Technologie is altijd een hulpmiddel voor de mens geweest om zaken beter, sneller en goedkoper te maken. We konden dit tot nu toe redelijk goed bevatten en implementeren in ons handelen. Maar er zijn tekenen dat de technologische ontwikkelingen zo snel gaan dat we het niet meer bij kunnen houden en de technologie ons handelen gaat sturen.
The technology of us bundelt een 16-tal bijdragen over verschillende aspecten van technologie en het mens zijn in de (zeer) nabije toekomst. Er zitten namen bij als Brian Solis en Don Tapscott (bekend van o.a. Wikinomics) die onderwijs op de korrel neemt.

- Embrace change. It’s happening faster than you can imagine and it’s not going away. Change is the new status quo.
- Amplify your own humanity as an organization. Ask what it will mean for your business to be more connected, more empathetic, more fundamentally human in your interactions with people.
- Look for opportunities to show your humanity — in your core business and toward all your stakeholders.
- Cultivate ideas that are strange to you. People are creative and innovative. Embrace debate and difference to bring better ideas to life.
- Become empathetic to others by embracing the perspectives of others. Think about what it would be like to actually become another person who has ideas that are entirely contrary to your own.
- Challenge yourself to be a lifelong learner. Curiosity and empathy are the two bookends of the human intellect.
- Take time to read. Indulge your intellectual and emotional curiosity. It’s an imperative.
